#ARAN HEDGE SCHOOL #MADE TO LAST

Edel's Wool Shop

Knitting Travel

Good news travels far and in 2014 a Linen Guild from Norway asked to visit us and learn more about our Irish Knitting and Design Skills at the studio. We had such a great time with these like-minded Linen textile enthusiasts that we hoped to meet more and started looking. A New World opened up of International visitors who were passionate about learning local knitting techniques and hearing our textile history firsthand.

To date Edel’s has delivered a class on Aran knitting techniques to hundreds of visitors from over fifteen countries. Almost every USA State and every Canadian province and territory has visited. Visitors from Australia, Mexico, Sweden, Syria, Italy, Belgium, Germany, France, Spain and beyond have signed the visitors book. On one occasion three generations of a family travelled together to knit with us. If you are passionate about genuine crafts, knitting, crochet, wool, spinning and weaving then Donegal and the North West Region of Ireland is a must visit region. While here you may adventure further, maybe to the Aran Islands or beyond for a class or two. Decide whether an action-packed multi-stop trip is for you or a more relaxed retreat hosted by Edel in Donegal. A retreat is a great choice if travelling alone as you will build lasting friendships and fully experience our fine food offerings and spectacular scenery too.

Another option is to book a trip that takes in a Knitting Festival, such as Woollinn in June (Dublin) or Yarn Folk Wool Festival in October (Antrim). For more information contact us and Edel will be happy to give you further information or help curate your Donegal and North West region trip to suit your requirements. Edel MacBride is a host designer on the Knttingtours.com schedule of knitting tour dates which are listed online for 2021. Edel plans to visit Shetland for nine days in July 2021 (This trip "The Irish American Knitting Adventure" was postponed in April 2020 ) and there is still some availability. For full details, get in touch and we are waiting to hear from you. To all of our past visitors welcome to the new website where finally there is a wool shop! We are excited about that and have so much more to bring to it in the coming year. Thank you for helping our mission of #keepingirelandknitting
