Luxurious, Creative and Timeless.
A family company connecting the past to the future.

Edel MacBride is passionate about Aran knitwear. She has reason to be.

At Edel MacBride we research, develop, design and hand make some of the world’s most beautiful clothing. In a land showered with great natural beauty, from green valleys to iconic cliffs and mountain ranges, we are a thread from past to future.

As a fashion designer qualified first from Limerick School of Art and Design in 1986, early collections were a reflection of new possibilities for Donegal tweed, a fabric first developed in our region of the North West of Ireland. With an instinctive reverence for past craftsmanship in the textile region of Donegal (*Convoy Woollen mill alone employed 500 people at one time including many of the MacBride family), a new path was begun.

Today, a family business we hand knit, handloom and crochet luxurious and wholesome sweaters, cardigans, wraps and knitted hats from locally spun wools and merino wools. From the sweaters that we will read to you, translating the meaning of the three dimensional Aran stitching to flowing circular skirts that are seamlessly finished with expert craftsmanship. A feeling of grace and goodness bestowed on the wearer.

We aim to keep producing in our local area and shine a beacon of exciting textile artisan production that shines a light on our heritage worldwide.
